Concert Series at the Santa Ana Zoo

There is just something about live music and how it enters your soul.  When I think of summertime, I think of music, friends, family, good food, and a lot of fun.  My family and I attended the Summer Concert at the Zoo last night at the Santa Ana Zoo and we had a wonderful time.  The band that was there was the Doo Wah Riders and they were bluegrass/country.  We laid our blankets and chairs out on the grassy field, in their Prentice Park, waiting for anticipation of some good music to be played.  The Concert Series included face painting, crafts that were focused on the new Otter exhibit the Zoo is working on, a “petting” zoo with reptiles, outdoor games for kids (and adults, alike!) such as SkipIt and Hula Hoops, a KIND bar vendor passing out granola bars, a silent auction, beer tastings from local breweries, and food, like a double dog hot dog – one bun, two dogs!! – burgers, nachos, and ice cream.  Can you believe all this?!  In addition, as part of the concert, we were able to walk around the zoo and check out the animals, go through the maze, go on the train, carousel, and Ferris wheel, that the Zoo just recently installed this year!  It was such a fun evening and our family will definitely be attending again!

What we didn’t realize about the Concert at the Zoo, is that we were able to bring in our own food and drinks, which is a WIN for any family! But, if you like local breweries, the cost to taste is $15 for the evening and you can have as many tastings as you would like.  The proceeds of tastings go back to help the Zoo!

The Concert Series at the Santa Ana Zoo has one more event – July 22nd where there will be 80’s music!  I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like 80’s music!  The breweries that will be in attendance on the 22nd are The Bruery, Bootleggers, Gunwhale, and Network.

The cost for admission is $19.95 for anyone ages 3+ and $9.95 for FOSAZ members.  Children under three are free!
